EP EP Rural Portfolio

About this portfolio

This is a working catalogue of rural development and agriculture projects for Sri Lanka's Eastern Province — Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara.

Three districts. About 1.65 million people. Twenty-two percent of the country's paddy, almost all its cashew, three lagoons of national significance, and one of the highest poverty rates in the country. It's a region that grows what the country eats, sits on what could be one of South Asia's best harbours, and yet remains under-invested. The point of this site is to make that under-investment harder to ignore.

Every project here is laid out in the same shape so a reviewer can compare apples to apples — context, approach, beneficiaries, market, financial model, lens-by-lens impact, risks, scalability. Three depths of writing:

Photos are sourced from Pexels (free editorial use) with photographer attribution preserved on every shot. Data comes from the Department of Census & Statistics, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, FAO, NAQDA, the Department of Meteorology, and the Disaster Management Centre. Each project page exports to PDF and DOCX for formal submission.

Anyone is welcome to use this material — public-sector partners, private investors, chambers of commerce, INGOs, foundations, or development donors. The 20 lenses we score against are designed to map to most major donor priority frameworks, not to a single donor's checklist.

The site is open for partners to pick from. To discuss a specific project — feasibility, co-design, co-financing — get in touch through the contact form (coming soon) or via the listed implementer for each cluster.
